Getting started
Getting started with JobCam
What JobCam does, how photos file themselves, and the first three things to set up.
Updated
JobCam is a mobile app (iPhone and Android) for contractors. It opens straight to the camera, and every photo you take files itself under the job at that street address. Your team sees the same jobs and photos on the phone and in the web dashboard at app.jobcamapp.com.
How filing works
When you take a photo, JobCam looks for a job whose address matches where you are standing:
- Address match. If your location resolves to a street address that matches an existing job, the photo goes there.
- Nearby job. Otherwise JobCam looks for a job within a short radius of your position (125 ft by default, adjustable in Settings).
- Ask you. If it is not sure, a "Where does this go?" sheet lets you pick a nearby job, create a job right here, keep the photo in Unfiled, or discard it.
Photos are saved on your phone first, then uploaded in the background, so you can keep shooting without signal.
Set up in three steps
Install the app and sign in
JobCam runs on an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, or an Android phone with Android 10 or later. JobCam sends your company a TestApp.io invite link for the beta app. Open it on your phone to install, then sign in with the invite code from your admin. See Install the mobile app.
Allow Location and Camera
Filing by address depends on Location. When your phone asks, choose to allow location while using the app. You can change this later. On iPhone: Settings, then JobCam, then Location. On Android: Settings, then Apps, then JobCam, then Permissions.
Take a photo
Point, shoot, done. Open the Jobs tab to see where it landed, or check the Unfiled inbox if JobCam could not place it.
Where to go next
- Taking photos and auto-filing explains the matching rules in detail.
- The Unfiled inbox covers photos that need a decision.
- Team and invites shows admins how to add the crew.
- Uploading from the web is for photos taken on other devices.
